The kids school marks the movement out of the elementary years. The Grade 6 students are recognized for their accomplishments and they then hand a candle to the Grade 5 child as they become the next years grade 6 students.

Congratulations to both recent graduates. I remember my Grade 6 teacher. She was so short that she pulled a stool around with her so she could write on the board, and she wore a watch on a long ribbon around her neck, under her clothes, and when ever she wanted to know the time, she would pull on the ribbon and eventually up would pop the watch.
