It’s been a little cooler here than normal (below freezing for almost a week). Today the temperature went up enough to melt the ice on the trampoline at a friends house.

Laura really wanted to go rock climbing over the holidays. We made it out one day last week.

The kids got Rad-dish kits for Christmas and last night we had our first recipe from the December box. Festive Pizza Wreath. Pull apart pizza bread (all the “toppings” baked right in) dipped in pizza sauce.

The weather was cool, for Texas, so we went to the indoor play area for an afternoon. Laura and Colin spent some time on the wheels that they could borrow there. They are both getting much better.
Colin has hit some sort of milestone success in his therapy, as he has spent the whole last week eager to sit and write and draw. This morning he wrote and illustrated a book for Daddy. Here he is working on it:

And here is a video of him reading the story out loud:
The chameleon on the back cover gives a hint of what is to come in the next book in the series – it will be a jungle book!
We are so proud of Colin for working so hard. Six months ago he couldn’t have done this if he had tried for a week – nor would he have wanted to even try. He had the idea, sat down, and did the whole thing in an hour this morning, completely independently.
The kids thought it would be a great plan to go out for fondue over the holidays. We went to The Melting Pot for a 3 fondue meal. Cheddar with beer to start. Vegetable broth for the mains. And to finish off, a flaming s’mores chocolate fondue!

Colin and Laura both insisted on making gifts for each other.
Colin painted a picture of a flower underwater (you can tell because of the snorkel it needed)
Laura made Colin pajamas out of fun atoms and periodic tables elements.

Colin is very pleased with the card holder that came in his stocking. He likes the giant cards, too, although they’re not new. It was a fun game of Go Fish.

Christmas Eve included appetizer supper, putting the star on the top of the Christmas tree advent calendar, and watching Mr Bean in new jammies.
So much excitement!
