The kids have been learning Australian Football at school. It is the last 2 weeks of the season and AFL (Footy) is a big sport in Melbourne.
They practiced goal kicking, hand ball at a target, and hand ball and kick passes.
They both had fun.

This handsome red-rumped parrot was feeding in the grass on our walk home from the park.

Showing off some skills at the nearby park.
We have all been felling the stress of the move this past week. Unpacking is still ongoing, and settling in is still happening. The honeymoon period is over and this is real life.
Given that feeling, the kids and I had an easy evening after a busy special day at school.
We went to the beach, saw the Brighton Beach huts, flew a kite, did some star gazing, then headed home for pizza, popcorn, Pokemon Cartoons, and (to finish off the p alliteration evening) Mr Poppers Penguins! Followed by watching our teams play each other in the evenings Football match (AFL).
A late but good, and needed, evening.

We had the opportunity to observe one of Laura’s ballet classes this week. It was a treat to see her do all her warm-ups, barre, and practice the choreography. She’s come a long way in only four weeks!
Everybody is happy to have the dog here at last.
How to make the playground more challenging? Stand on the spring teeter totter while your sister bounces the other end.
Awesome balance and strength!

A local birding group posted a video to Facebook today of a large flock of yellow-tailed black cockatoos in the city. This is an unusual sighting. Colin enjoyed watching the video and went to get Coconut (his cockatoo). He still hasn’t seen any local cockatoos, but I’m sure it won’t be long now!

We have found a variety of Colin’s school work and art while unpacking. He has kept his favorites, but agreed that we could recycle some of them if we took photos first. Some of these are a few years old!!
