I braved a solo boat trip before the weather got cold this week. I remembered to take my good camera with me and snapped a few photos of birds. Female Belted Kingfisher, Male and Female Bluebirds, and a Goldeneye. There were also a bunch of pelican hanging out with the cormorants on the bank.
Kids got to the little books store to browse and pick up new books.
I took the new canoe out with a friend this morning. It was 2-5C and a very light breeze. A beautiful day to explore some areas that are quiet.
It’s a fine day for puzzling.
These vultures seem to be asking that as they bask in the sun right outside my office. iPhone photo with very little zoom – they were about 3 feet away from me.
I made a lemon cheesecake to celebrate a colleague’s birthday. I was particularly pleased with how the candied peel turned out.
I’m trying to be better about posting, but am not so good at remembering to take photos. I do take a selfie for every run or bike ride, though, so here I am after riding 11 km last night.
It was cold and raining at the end of the day yesterday, but Colin still agreed to go for a practice run, and we even increased the length of our run intervals from 3.5 minutes to 4. We stick close to home and did loops around the neighborhood in case the rain started really coming down.
Our reward was seeing a sharp-shinned hawk! This is a terrible photo (near sunset, in the rain, using only a phone) but it was a treat to see it!
One of the ways we are training Pancake is to give her challenges to solve. This busy box with lots of hidden treats kept her going for a while. It has bits to lift and bits to rotate, and she was determined to get all the treats out.
