We have eleven baby ducks living in the pond near our house. We don’t normally feed the ducks, but we took a little bit of bird seed to them today.

Went over to friends for a relaxed supper. Sarah made cream puffs that were enjoyed by everyone, and Colin got to lick the whisk!

Napping is back!

First day back to school. Both of them are very excited. Colin is in a new classroom, primary with Ms Chris. Laura is the top grade in her class this year (grade 3) and will be taking on a leadership role this year.
They are both excited to have new back packs and Laura did special braids for first day.

Laura is very pleased with the rainbow loom she purchased for herself using pocket money. She is enjoying making bracelets!

We went out in kayaks with friends this morning. Last few days before school starts on Wednesday.

Laura and Colin hosted a surprise party for Katie. It included hand made cards, presents, baking a cake, singing and at least 3 games with all the invited guests. It went on for over 3 hrs.

This was the present opening part of the party.

The farmers’ market had face-painting and a bouncy castle today. Getting one’s face painted and then bouncing results in a rather smudged face when it’s over 100 degrees outside. Laura chose a dog face and so Colin had to have the same.

It was the start-of-year ice cream social at school yesterday. Colin had great fun seeing his friends from last year and tearing around, then enjoyed cooling off with his Popsicle. Laura was so busy with her friends that we couldn’t find her for a photo.

Colin shooed me away the other day. There was no way we were going to the playground until he finished reading this motorcycle magazine. I even got a narrative, “This is one kind of engine, and this is the other kind if engine…”
