Face painting

En route to the farmers’ market in Saturday morning Colin said, “I hope there’s a bouncy castle there.” He got his wish!  They had special activities for kids, including the bouncy castle and face painting.  Colin chose Batman and Laura chose a butterfly.  She was busy bouncing while C had his done, so I didn’t get a picture of her until we were back in the car.

Whiskers

Colin is learning about the “fur on Daddy’s chin”.  He was surprised to learn that ANY grown-up man can have a moustache or a beard.  I think he thought it was something that just happened, like eye colour or height.

He gave clear directions about what areas Cliff was to shave.  Cliff is a good sport.

Backpack drive

Laura helped choose all the items to go in a backpack for the United Way’s backpack/school supplies drive.  We were assigned a little boy and had to shop for everything in his list.  Last night was the drop-off party.

First we wrote notes of encouragement to our student:
Then we out the backpack, our notes, and a few other supplies into big plastic bags and dropped them in the bins.

There was popcorn and ice cream, and a chance to see lots of activities that would be found in a typical United Way “Bright Beginnings” classroom.  Laura had fun checking out all the stations.
