day 19 of our road trip

Hello again. day 19 of our road trip was much less busy and mainly inside. it started normally. the mornings have not been eventful for a very long time. once we got up and going, I transitioned between playing video games and building a puzzle and back again.the puzzle was of some very naughty kittens raiding a tea party while their owner was working in the garden, completely oblivious to the absolute havoc that the kittens are causing. it was very fun trying to determine what chaos each piece fell into. the puzzle was only a 150 piece puzzle, or something close to that. once we finished that, we got out a 1,000 piece puzzle, but I stopped after that. later that day, (a little bit after lunch) I finished all of the puzzles in a roller coaster puzzle game I found in the games room. a different great aunt and uncle had come over at that point, and I played some air hocky with him. he won 2 of the 3 games we played. at this point, a thick fog had rolled in, so we stayed inside for a while. once my great aunt and uncle had left, me, Daddy, and Mummy went out to find some Gyms and Poke Stops for my Pokemon Go game. we stayed out for a while, and when we got back, we had a quiet evening. not much else happened, from what i remember. that’s all for now. bye. -Colin

day 18 of our road trip

hello. day 18 of our road trip was eventful. it started with my normal breakfast and morning routine, so nothing special there. after that, not much happened. there was a pair of loons on the lake outside our place. the loons were very cute, and they had some baby loons! we weren’t sure what the correct noun for a baby loon was, so they were just baby loons. if you have any idea, please respond.the morning was quiet, but the afternoon was busy! my great aunt and uncle came to visit us for the day, so they were at the house for the afternoon. after they arrived, me and Daddy went for a skate on our rollerskates. I tried laura’s in-line skates, but they were too hard for me. we went quite a way, and on the way back, we saw a little catterpillar, orange and black and fuzy, on the road near us. we left it alone, but also took a picture to identify it on an app my dad has. i can’t remember what the app said the catterpillar was, but it was cute. when we got back, we had a very early supper of lobster chowder and rolls made by my great aunt. i tried some of the chowder, but it was not my favourite. i don’t like how lobster looks. i had a bit of the chowder and then just had some peanut butter on the rolls. once we finished supper and my aunt and uncle had left, me and Mummy went hunting for pokemon in the pokemon go app. i found some very interesting pokemon, but they were all a bit hard to remember. when we got back, it was pretty much time to go to bed. however, I had a little snack before then. i don’t have anything else to say about yesterday because I covered everything that happened yesterday, so that’s all for now. bye! -Colin

day 17 of our road trip

Hi! day 17 of our road trip saw us moving to our second AirBnB. the morning was in the first one; there was nothing special then. once we had breakfast, we finished our packing. i got most of my packing done pretty quickly, so i helped bring out everything else. it was a short drive there, and only me, mummy, and daddy went in our car. laura was at sailing camp and Grandmother and Grampy were at a friend’s. when we got herem the first thing i did was explore the ownstairs. this house has the first floor on top, and there is another floor below it. the house is on such a large hill that there is on door on one side on the top story of the house, and the back door is on the lower level. i found a large living room downstairs, that had a bunch of games, a large couch, and an air hockey table on the side. i really like air hockey. like, i really really really really really really really really really REALLY like air hockey. i love it even though i’m not the best at it. i challenged laura, grandmother, and Mummy to matches and I won about 40% of the time.we have all picked our rooms and I like mine. we took a bit to find the correct sheets and blankets for the beds, because they were all mixed up. once we got that done, i played some of my game, and then we had supper. after supper we went out for some ice cream, because it was Grandmother and Grampy’s 51st anniversary. i got a chocolate chip cookie dough scoop on a cone. afterwards, we played a game of UNO, and Mummy won. not much else notable happened yesterday. thanks. Bye! -Colin

day 16 of our road trip

hi. day 16 of our road trip was nice. the morning held the usual things: large breakfast, play on my games, etc. etc. however, I did help Grandmother with the Spelling Bee, a word game online that is tough. there are seven letters, each in a hexagon, and they are arranged in a honeycomb shape. the goal is to spell as many words as possible, but the words must have the center letter. it is really hard but rewarding when you find a long word. it has a lot of complex things to it, so I will go to the next thing. we finished the kakapo yesterday! me and Mummy have been working hard and the kakapo lego set is finally complete! the set includes the kakapo, a little kakapo, and two hats the big kakapo can wear. there are pictures of it below, so that’s all on that. I got Pokemon Go on my phone, which is a really cool AR app that lets the user catch pokemon in the real world. I have been enjoying it a lot. at the end of the day we had fish and chips for supper. there isn’t much else notable from yesterday, so that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin

Day 15 of our road trip

Hi! day 15 of our road trip was eventful and fun. to start I had a good play of my new game, and that was nice. once i had breakfast,me and Daddy went out on the kayaks we have at our AirBnB for a while. I had on my wetsuit and daddy just had some swim clothes, and we had two kayaks. one of the kayaks was a more traditional kayak, with the pilot sitting in a hole in the top of the boat, while the other was more of a small platform with special grooves in it for the pilot to sit on. both of the kayaks use a two bladed paddle. we went out on the bay nearby our place. on the water, we were going against the wind to start but we paddled hard and resisted it almost entirely! we saw some very interesting birds, like a tern, a willet, and some very cute ducks. these don’t make much sense if you don’t have an avid birder in your family/ close friend group. when we had started, i was in the traditional kayak and daddy was on the sit-on kayak, but we swapped (on a beach, ot in the water) when I started accidentally crushing my fingers between the boat and the paddle. i was much, much better with the sit-on kayak than the traditional kayak. after we swapped, it started to rain. rain in Nova Scotia is not like rain in Texas; it’s much more random and controlled by the wind, not just staying in one spot until it’s finished. the rain was nice, and we got very wet. the rest of our trip was mainly just rain ad rocks to look at, so that’s all… about the kayaks. i think that I used the word “kayak” way too much in the above paragraph. in the afternoon, we went to a glass gallery. there were a lot of really amazing things in the gallery, and we saw the people running the shop making little glass whales. after we left there,we visited a small art gallery a little way away. the art gallery was less interesting to me, and I can’t remember much from it. the day was uneventful after we got home, so that’s all for now. Bye!! – Colin

Day 14 of our road trip

Hello. Day 14 was interesting. we went out to Halifax. we drove there, and the drive had little notable to see. once we got there, there was a lot to see! we started by checking out the Cable Wharf, which is an important dock in Halifax. the Cable Wharf is where the first telegraph cable to go from North America to Europe underwater was started to be laid down. it was interesting to read about the cable, and see what it looked like, and learn about the cable in general. after that we checked out a store called Cows, that had a variety of cow themed merchandise. it looked like it was originally an ice cream store, and it still sold ice cream, but it was mainly cow themed clothing and items. there were a lot of really good cow puns, but they wouldn’t make much sense without the pictures. once we were done there, we went to have lunch. we just stopped at a food court to find something to eat, instead of going to anywhere special. after lunch, we went to Freak Lunchbox, an amazing candy store. we all got some candy there, and it was awesome. the ceiling was decorated with candy boxes and stuff, and was really cool to see. once we left Freak Lunchbox, we walked down to another store close to where we started, called Peace by Chocolate. Peace by Chocolate has some really, REALLY cool chocolate bars. the wrappers were decorated, not the chocolate, but it was cool anyway. we got a bit of chocolate for ourselves, and might have gotten a bar or four for friends back home. the bars in Peace by Chocolate have specialized things printed on them, like “welcome to Canada” or the word “friend” in five different languages. there was a selection of bars all printed with the pride flag. there were at least 4 different types of pride flag on them, and I liked every one of them. once we had come home (still nothing notable on the way back), we just relaxed and had fun. very little interesting happened after that, so this is the end of this post. bye! -Colin

Day 13 of our road trip

Hello. day 13 was nice. I started with a breakfast that I have had every day so far: two slices of peanut butter bread and some fruit. it is delicious. after that, I just played with my new game. once I did that, i had lunch. I did some puzzles before that, but it was not very important. after lunch, I played some cribbage with my grandfather, he is really really really good. i didn’t win any of the times we played. afterwards, me and Laura played some Minecraft. I am still terrible at survival, but laura is definitely helping me. once we finished that, we had supper. yesterday was not very eventful. after supper, we all played Pictionary together. the teams were all of the three people. there were some very strange things we had to draw. there was one time when I had to draw Puss in Boots. it was confusing, but I drew a cat face and then started drawing a pair of boots to put the cat in. however, laura’s team guessed her picture of Puss in Boots before I finished drawing the boots. there wasn’t much else that happened that day. I guess that’s all for taday. bye. -Colin

day 12 of our road trip

Hi. yesterday was very nice. we had a good sleep in with daddy managing to sleep the longest. I had a really good breakfast, and the day had begun.not much happened in the morning. after lunch, we played a game of Scrabble which Daddy also won. he got the word ALTITUDES on a double word point square, annd got a bonus 50 points for clearing all of his letters. after that, everyone else went to the farmer’s market but I stayed home to practice Scrabble. i didn’t do very well. I had some luck, being able to spell out LEONINE, but didn’t get many other good words. after everyone ese got home, we took a break from whatever we were doing and just did whatever. in the produce we got from the market, there were some apples that were really really big. they are already eaten. me and Laura agreed to do some minecraft together, but it was not going to happen. the owner of the AirBnB where we were staying was going out on to the bay in a boat. Laura cannot resist an allowance to ride or even drive a boat. I still played a bit of Minecraft on my own, and I had fun anyway. after that happened, Me and daddy went to get my grandparents from the airport. they will be staying with us until we leave here. I was really really really really really really really really really happy to see them. when we all got home, it was already time for supper. earlier that day, I also helped build mummy’s, new Kakapo set. a kakapo is a New Zealand ground parrot with a hilarious flat face, a brilliant green hue, bright blue feet, and a really cute LEGO set. the set includes a large kakapo that is on a smaller scale to a real one, a baby kakapo, and a part hat and top hat that the large kakapo can wear. we are only in bag 2. also on the way here, daddy had given me and Laura some surprises. they were all collectible LEGO things. we each got a little LEGO super mario bros. figure (I got an Ice Bro), and three muppet minifigures. I got Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, one of the two old men, and the Swedish chef. the only minifigure that we don’t have in that series is Beaker. if we get a Beaker, we’ll a.) have all the Muppet minifigures and b.) can make stop-motion Muppet Labs. i am getting off topic now, so I will halt for now. Goodbye until next time! -Colin

Day 11 of our road trip: finally made it!

Hello! yesterday we finally made it to the AirBnB where we will be stopping for the next two weeks. we started the day at our freinds’ house here we stayed for an hour or two more. then, we left for the AirBnB. my mom had met up with us the previous day, and we all went to the AirBnB together. it was only a forty minute drive to get here, and it is really nice here! we have excellent views, and the house is laid out very nicely. I found a Scrabble game in the living room, and also an edition of Trivial Pursuit. we also brought a multtude of games to play. the kitchen was a bit cluttered, but we figured it out. I like our rooms, as they have very nice vies and beds. I also found a small room at the top of the stairs that had very little room in it, and would probably be used for storage. however, it was completely empty. I might make it into a small fort. I have already made some of the couch cushions into a fort on the couch. I like this place, and I have very few complaints. so few, that I can’t list any! it has a really big backyard or maybe front yard, but I can’t remember which side is which. I have very little left to say right now, and I like how uneventfully perfect this place is. thank you so much for reading these. Bye! -Colin

Day 10 of our road trip

Hello. I’m going to start by saying from now on, I will be writing about the previous day instead of the current day, as it is much easier. OK. yesterday we finally crossed into Canada! we started the day in a campsite in Maine. Me and Laura had a really long sleep in before we left. it was a much shorter day than any others so far, since we weren’t driving as far. after we got up, we went on and crossed the candian border. it wasn’t very far away, and it was quite easy. after that, we went to the only tourist stop of that day- the world’s largest axe! it was very big, and actually a statue as tall as a house. we took some photos with it, and continued on. after that, we had a very uneventful day, but that was nice. we stopped in a family friend’s house and parked our camper in their driveway. I hung out with a new friend I made there. they were really nice, and we had similar intrests. after a nice day, we made Kraft Mac and Cheese for supper and I was happy. yesterday was a really, really, really good day.it was just uneventful enough that it wasn’t boring or too exciting. I don’t have much else to say about it, so goodbye. -Colin
