day 39 of our road trip

Hello. Day 39 of our road trip was somewhat eventful. I slept in late, and i had an okay breakfast. then, me and daddy went up to Grandpa’s old house together, and Daddy was packing up everything. i just stayed in a room and played on my Switch. after an hour or so of that, we went up and got Grandpa to have lunch with him. we got sandwiches from Subway, and i had a really good one with a huge thick piece of Mozzarella in it. we stayed in the park where we ate for a little while, and we found a big statue of a slamon, so we took a picture of ourselves with it. we then went and dropped Grandpa back off at his home, and then we went to Charley and Shelby’s house to play for a bit. there wasn’t much notable about that day. that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin

day 38 of our road trip

Hello again! day 38 of our road trip was somewhat eventful. the day started when me and daddy got up in the trailer. we got dressed, had some breakfast, and cleaned u the trailer a bit. we got going once daddy had gone. daddy went up to Grandpa’s old house to finish cleaning up some of the last things still there. I stayed in the trailer and wrote my blog for a little while, but then i got distracted and i went inside. most of my morning was spent playing on Charley’s DS again. i made some good progress, and a little while after Charley and Shelby from their friends’ Logan and Sophia’s house we went down to a store nearby and got slushies! the slushy i got was flavored like Dragon fruit. it was very sweet, and i had to stir it every now and then to stop me from just drinking flavoring and then ice. after we got home, i played on the DS a bit longer, then we went outside. i bounced on the trampoline for a while. afte a little while, i was getting bored, but daddy came back and we went out for supper. we went down to a place that had some very nice looking things on the meu, and we ate a lot. there was so much good food that in had trouble eating all of it! once we left there, we went down to a salmon ladder, which is a special set of blocks, kind of like stairs, which helps fish like salmon get around manmade blockades like dams to get to their breeding grounds. it was really cool to see all the salmon trying to get up the ladder, even if they don’t always succeed. after we finally left there, we went back to the house and then went to bed in the trailer again. that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin.

day 35 of our road trip. actually.

Hello! i realized that I put day 36 out as day 35. so, this is what actually happened on day 35. we got up at Grandpa’s old house, and we were packing up everything there. the house is going to be sold, but we aren’t sure what is going to happen otherwise. we started packing up after all of us got up and ate something, and I was going to be a bit tired for that. I was packing up a bunch of stuff in the tv room. i packed up a bunch of CDs and also brought out some little thingamabobs that were on the shelves. as i was looking through and packing up the VHS tapes that were also there, we took a short ice cream break. then I started packing up the CDs. one of them was part of a game for an old computer. I can’t remember what it was called. Daddy explained to me that 1,000 of those discs that the game was on would have less memory than a single iphone. i wasn’t actually that surprised, but it was kind of funny. onc i packed those up, i started packing up some DVDs. most of the day was just packing and sometimes reading.there isn’t much else to say really. i guess that’s all for now. Bye!(?) -Colin

day 37 of our road trip

Hello again. I figured out that i will have around 50 posts, but not do day 50. maybe I’ll write a blog post at the end of the trip. anyway, day 36 was a bit tiring because i didn’t sleep well at all. however, i am full of energy again! once we got up, we all played some games on our iPads and i played on Charley’s old DS. I have been playing on that DS since spring break, whenever we came to their house. I have been playing one game, called Mario and Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story. the game is actually a combonation of platformer, puzzle game, and turn-based combat. it’s a really cool. if for any reason you have a DS, some spare money, and a second hand games store nearby, you should be able to find a copy of it, so you should really check it out. after a while of that, we stopped (around noon) and played outside for almost the rest of the day. we played on the trampoline, the swings, and Charley and Shelby went in the pool for a little bit but I didn’t want to go in. their pool always feels cold to me. after a while of outside time, we finally went back inside, and then we had supper. there wasn’t much else to say, but I realizetha I hadn’t said that Chaley had opened her presents from yesterday! that was supposed to go in the last day, but i should put them in here. Charley got a phone, some Robux (for a game called Roblox), and a special bracelet maker. there was a couple other things, but I can’t remember them. that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin P.S. i don’t have any pictures again.

Day 35 of our road trip

Hello! sorry I’m posting late again. the days have been getting shorter and shorter. I’ve had less time to write since we got back to Grand Falls, so I’m catching up again. yesterday started in my Grandpa’s old house again, and then we went to Charley and Shelby’s house. I was sleeping over that night! I was staying the whole day. we started with playing on our games again. then, we went outside to swim for a while. it was Charley’s birthday, but she had gone to basketball camp. me and Shelby were swimming and she said that she had never seen me being so excited in the water. it was really fun to be able to play and splash through the water for so long. after a while of that, we took a short break and then went on the trampoline for a while. we played there for a long time. once we were done there, which took a while, we had some supper. since it was Charley’s birthday, she chose to order some MacDonalds for supper. we had supper, and then we went and watched some TV for a while. after a little while of that, we went to sleep. I took a very long time for me to sleep. pretty late on, i saw a creeoy shadow, and i was a bit scared. then, their cat Butterscotch came over and revealed that SHE was the mysterious shadow! i eventually did sleep, and that was the whole day. i don’t have any photos of Day 35, so that’s all for now. BYE! -Colin

day 34 of our road trip

hello again. day 34 of our road trip was nice. it was the first full day we were spending where our rest spot was our grandpa’s old house. we left pretty early after we got up, to go to our cabin. once we got there, which was actually around noon (I got up very late), we checked down at the shore to find out that Charley, Shelby, Caroline, and Grace were all at the beach and in the water. it was the first time in a while when all of our cousins were together at one place. I figured out that there were quite a few combonations of cousins we could have, but that is really hard to explain. Laura and Caroline waded, since they didn’t bring swimsuits, and all of the others started to play a game where we were mermaids. I chose to be an Atlantean, then revealed that I was a polymorphed dragon. the game was really fun, since we were making up silly explanations for what the human devices where, and we played that game throughout the day. we went inside after a while to gt some food, and we found that Caroline was making a scavenger hunt for us to play. we had some food, and I found Caroline’s Nintendo 3DS. I opened it up to find out what it was, and found it loaded and playing Pokemon Sun. I took a few moments to figure this out, and then a character in-game came up and challenged me, and I immediatley flattened his Machop. i then closed it, and then Caroline and Grace’s dad came in holding a Dr. Strange comic book. he offered me the book to read for the day, and I gladly obliged. the story was really cool, since the villains and monsters, despite being scary, were so surreal I wasn’t scared of it! i enjoyed the book all through the day. after we had a snack, Caroline had completed the scavenger hunt, so we played it. it was really fun to do. once we had finished that, we got out a board game about Garfield the cat. Shelby won, and then I watched Caroline play Pokemon sun for a bit. we went outside and back down to the shore to play some more of our game from the morning. i vot bored eventually, and then went and changed back into my dry clothes. we got a fire going in the oven, and toasted some marshmallows. i read some more of the book, then we had to go. we left, and it took me a while to get to sleep. that’s the whole day. that’s all for now. bye! -Colin

day 33 of our road trip

Hello! Sorry I’m posting so late. The last couple days have been busy, and I haven’t had much time to write. I’ll hopefully be posting all of them up to yesterday, so if I get all of them done, there will be three to read today! Okay, onto the day. Day 33 was the first long travel day and day we had to get up early in a long time. We got up early, and all of us went to the town of Trinity bay, where we got a boat tour of the bay. The tour was a 2-hour trip, and while that may sound boring because we weren’t able to bring anything to read or play on, there was so much to see there wasn’t time to even want do do anything else! We started off by having to put on these waterproof floatation suits. I also had to put on a life jacket, but that was just because I was younger. Once we got out, we drove at a very fast speed out into the bay, and then went down to a large island(?) where a lot of eagles. Lived. There were a lot of bald eagles, and they don’t sound like what movies make them to sound like. We went there because there is a Stellar’s sea eagle that has been there for a while. The Stellar’s sea eagle normally doesn’t live in Newfoundland as it’s more commonly found in Asia. This eagle is the only one in North America, and it has been seen all over North America for the past two years! The eagle has been very lost for a while, and it’s at least staying farther north now. I’m only saying what I know about it from what my parents have explained to me. The eagle was really cool to see, and we then went to a smaller bay that had an iceberg in it. The iceberg has stayed for much longer than it normally should have, being midsummer and the iceberg is just ice. The iceberg had broken, and there was now another, smaller iceberg that was shaped like a whale’s tail. Once we left there, we explored around the area for a little while, and then in the way back, there was something I have always wanted to see. PUFFINS! Puffins are amazing. They are kind of like platypuses, and I will give some reasons why. 1.) the puffin is known for being a Canadian animal, even though it’s not the first animal you think of when you think Canada. The platypus is similar, as it’s the same thing but for Australia. 2.) the puffin is not a normal animal, although it is a bit more normal than the platypus, since it is a mishmash of various other animals’ features. 3.) the puffin is better at swimming than doing what others in its species can.Ā  Puffins are better at swimming than flying, and the platypus is better at swimming than walking. 4.) they are far smaller than you think. I can’t describe how different they are in words, so I’ll leave it to you to figure out. That is a short list of reasons why the puffin is similar to the platypus. On the way back, we also saw the thing we truly came to see- a whale! The whale was a fin whale, which is the second-largest whale species in the world. There was a young one and a mother, so we saw two whales! They passed quite close to our boat. After all that, we finally arrived back. Once we came back ashore, we went up to an ice creamery at the top of a hill. We walked up there and we found out that the ice cream was homemade and was sold out of a refurbished barn. The ice cream was really good, better than most of the other ice cream I’ve ever had.Ā  We drove down to my grandfather’s old house, and we have been staying there since. The house is really nice, but not everything is good. Most of it isn’t safe or fully complete.Ā  It’s sad. Once we got there, we unpacked and went to bed. That was almost the whole day. Everything interesting. That’s all for now. Bye!Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  -Colin

Day 32 of our road trip

Hello! Day 32 of our road trip was a bit strange. It was the last day of staying in St. Johns, so we were a bit sad about that, but we were also excited because we were going to a really cool ice cream spot at the end of the day. the morning was a bit slow, and nothing exciting happened. Afterwards, we went to another family friends’ house, and they had a pool. I put on my wet suit so that I didn’t get too cold, but the water was nice and warm. We played in there for a while, and their daughter, Claire, showed up and joined us in the pool. After an even longer time, we got out and dried off a bit. I swapped back into my normal clothes, and Laura and Claire stayed with the adults who had snacks. Me and Frannie (who was there too) went on the trampoline for a little while. After a while of that, we got off and had to go. We all drove down to a fish and chips spot to get fish and chips. Fish and chips consists of a piece of fish that’s battered and fried, and the chips are what Americans would call French fries. French fries aren’t actually from France, but I can’t remember where they are originally from. On a similar note, Hawaiian pizza is actually from Canada. After we had our fish and chips, we went to the ice cream place! It was called Tinker’s, and they had a huge selection of amazing combinations. They had a thing called Freakshakes, which were huge shakes of ice cream and then all kinds of toppings. Whipped cream, brownies, cherries, various types of berries, peanut butter cups, m&ms, wafers, waffle cones, and they also had ice cream tacos and ice cream nachos. Both the taco shells and the nachos are made out of waffle cone material.I got a brownie sundae, and everyone else got stuff that I also wanted to eat. Once we finished, we walked back to the car and stayed at Frannie’s house for a little while. Once we were done, we said our goodbyes, and left. We went to bed pretty quickly, and that’s all of the day. That’s all for now.  Bye!          -Colin

day 31 of our road trip

Hello! day 31 of our road trip was very nice. it all started the normal way: get up, lay some games, have breakfast, get dressed, go somewhere else… nothing fancy. once we got going, though, we went to cape spear, an old army base and lighthouse. we went through the army base and saw some very interesting things, but most of it was normal war stuff, although there were some cannons that were really well hidden, because when they were needed, they came out of little dips in the ground to aim over a wall, and when they weren’t needed, or were hidden, they were inside the little dip. it was really cool to learn about how the cannons were used. the lighthouse was less cool, but more interesting, because it was full of stuff from when the lighthouse needed a keeper to work! there wasn’t much to easily describe there, so I’m moving on! once we came back, me, Laura, Frannie, and Daddy went downtown to look around. there were a lot of different things that were interesting there, and we stopped in a lot of shops. the first shop we got stuff from was actually a resturant, and we all got some bubble tea. I got a lychee flavored one, with lychee lavored bubbles. i like the taste of lychee. we drank these as we explored, and we found quite a few souvenier shops that we got stuff from. Laura got a pair of earrings, and I got a snow globe.I also got a large sperm whale stuffy, which took me a while to name but now is known as Melon. I slept with Melon that night. he is large enough tha i can hug him with my arms and my legs. once we (eventually)got back, we took a break for a bit, and really enjoyed doing what we wanted to. for supper, we went to an Italian place. we all got something, and I chose a margherita pizza. they were quite small pizzas, and didn’t take up a huge amount of room in your stomach. afterwards, we also all got desserts. I got a really really really good chocolate cake that was SUPER fudgy and very satisfying to eat. Laura got a pizza that had Nutella on it. it looked really good, but i was full after eating my shockingly small cake. it was extremely fudgy and filling, but very small too. once we came back from that, we all went back to our places and went to bed. that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin

Day 30 of our road trip

Hello once again. day 30 of our road trip… it feels wierd that I’m finally at this number. I don’t know how long that the road trip will last. maybe I’ll eventually reach day 50. okay, let’s get to the blog part! day 30 was eventful, but not very fancy. it was eventful in a different way. it started normally, so not much there. afterwards, we went to old family friends’ Geraldine and Ian. I don’t have many memories of them, but Laura has a lot. they are really nice. when we had arrived, they had made cookies for us to enjoy. every christmas, they send u an ornament that they had made on their own. the ornaments are made of wood and painted carefully. every year, me and Laura have enjoyed seeing what they are and this year will be no different. after a little while, we went to another family friends’ house. both me and their son, Tyson, don’t really remember anything about each other, but the moment i came in we did the exact same little fidget as our parents and Laura greeted each other. we turned out to have similar interests, and we became friends very quickly. after a while of hanging around there, we finally went back to our places and went to bed. it was really nice having a friend who is very similar to me. that’s really all I can say about the day yesterday, so bye for now. -Colin
