We went to the natural bridge caverns and enjoyed some great cave tours, as well as a huge climbing/ropes course, which Colin loved.

We went out on the Colorado river in Austin this morning. It was a lovely morning for it! Birding highlight of the day was a black-crowned night heron. It made up for the dozens of great-tailed grackles.

There are 1.5 million bars that live under the Congress St bridge in Austin. Some night they all come out from under the bridge in a big cloud of bats and head up the river to eat bugs.
Last night, because it’s still maternity season, we saw quite a few bats, but no big cloud. We waited until after sunset just to be sure, but no luck. It was a nice night to sit outside, at least!

While Laura is at camp, we are taking a little TX road trip with Colin. He was thrilled to have a new magazine to read en route to Austin.

After much anticipation, Laura’s farewell at camp lasted about 30 seconds. She is so thrilled to be there, and we hope that her three weeks are as wonderful as she expects.
At least she grudgingly posed for a photo!

We couldn’t get brioche bread this morning, but settled for a fresh squeezed lemonade to share.

Colin has started taking archery lessons. He was really happy with this result for one of his arrows. Now to get the same result with every shot!

It’s been nearly six months – quite possibly the longest I have gone in my life without a haircut, at least since I grew hair around age two.
It feels so much better!

First camping trip of 2021 in Texas. Lots of rain, lots of mud, lots of fun and stories.

Cliff was driving to Dallas so the kids and I went for a short hike.
