Hello! The first day of our road trip has been good. we have gone through Texas, Louisiuana, and are now in Mississippi. We passed through the easternmost point of Texas. We have been listening to an audiobook of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,and I have been laying my new LEGO video game and reading 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne. It’s a great novel, and it’s also about 153 years old! We saw some very interesting things on the way here but didn’t make any notable stops. Although, there was a random statue of corn. I don’t know why it was there. We are now in Hattiesberg for the night. It was very rainy after we set up, though it is now subsided and a nice quiet night. I can’t think of anything else to say right now. Bye for now! -Colin

Today is the day before we leave to our road trip (hence the”day 0.5″ in the title). We’re finishing our packing, we’ve got our trailer, and we’ve been getting the last things done before we go. Tomorrow we will be starting off, but today we are finishing the getting ready. I feel like I’m just repeating myself, but that’s because there’s nothing really special happening today. I’m getting bored now. I’m going to go and finish packing. Thanks for reading my first post. Byeeeeeeeeeee! -Colin

We have been negligent in posting. Time to try and get back in the habit! Today’s lovely surprise was treats from a colleague in Melbourne who was in town for the week. Yum!

With Cliff out of town and Laura at dance class, Colin and I went for an after dinner walk. We spent some time watching a heron hunt for his dinner.

It’s the time of year that we have swarms of gnats all over the neighbourhood. Tonight there were hundreds of large dragonflies feasting on them. As you might imagine, it is not easy to get a photo of flying insects from an iPhone, but this gives you some idea.

Laura and Cliff will have Nutcracker rehearsals every Sunday until December. Colin and I have plans to spend our Sunday afternoons making sure the cookie jar is full for the week ahead.

Poor dog got an infection on her front paw. Thankfully it’s now clearing up and healing well. She has resembled a sad lamp for a few weeks now.

Pancake does not enjoy walking for me. Here is a series of photos of me “walking” her while Cliff was out of town. One day it took us 20 minutes to get next door.

Kids were pleased when their new Dino stuffies arrived. They are characters from a web comic (“Dinosaur”) about mental health.

Within 10 minutes of arriving at Grandmother & Grampy’s house, Colin was checking out old favourite toys.

When water starts coming through the walls, you need to figure it out ASAP. Not sure we ever anticipated rooftop leaf blower use.
