Day 8 of our road trip

Hello! Day 8 of our road trip was another driving day. We got up at my grandparents’ house and got on the road. It wasn’t very eventful, but it was very weird because we were mostly driving through Quebec. If you didn’t know, Quebec’s official language is French, meaning that almost all of the signs and restaurants would be in French. That didn’t really affect it, but it was cool. We stopped at a rest stop for lunch, and continued to New Brunswick, where the official languages are both English and French, so I could understand more of the signs. We got sushi for supper and went to sleep. Not a very eventful day. Bye! -Colin

day 7 of our road trip

Hello! The seventh day of our road trip was busy and good. Once I got up, I had breakfast, got dressed and then had chill time for a while. Afterwards, I had lunch and then my cousins Eva and Isla came over for the afternoon.  We played in the backyard for a while and then went to the park for a couple hours. We came back and then played with Construx for a while. We had pizza for supper and played a board game until Eva and Isla left. I then got ready for bed and went to bed. It was a good day, but a bit long. Bye!    -Colin

day 6 of our road trip

Hello again! The sixth day of our road trip was another driving day. We packed up our stuff from my cousins’ house and left. It wasn’t as long of a drive as some other days. We didn’t go through any other provinces, we just stayed in Ontario for the day.  We drove a while, stopped at an A&W for lunch, and continued to my grandparents’ house. We unpacked our stuff, and Dad and I went for a walk for a while. Then we came back, and Dad went to get fish and chips for supper. We had supper, and we went to bed. The day was good, even if it was a bit uneventful. Bye!                -Colin

day 5 of our road trip

Hello! The fifth road trip day was good. I got up really late, and we went out to play a round of golf. We played well, and I had better drives than Dad for the first half. The course was very hilly, so it was an interesting round. That lasted until about 6:15, and we went back to my cousins’ house for supper. We packed some stuff up and got ready for bed. The golf game was most of the day, and nothing else really happened. By the way, sorry for being really behind on the blogs. I just forgot to do them for a while. Bye!           -Colin

Day 4 of our road trip

Hello. Day 4 was not very eventful. I got up and wasn’t feeling good. We got our stuff packed up and got in the car, and then I read a book about space pirates for a bit. I then slept through most of the rest of the trip. I woke up to have some food, but otherwise didn’t do much. We did make it to Canada though! We drove to my cousins’ house. We’re staying here for a couple of nights. We had a good supper, played some video games, and went to bed. It wasn’t an eventful day. thank you for reading! -Colin

Day 3 of our road trip

6/10/2025

Hello again! Our third day was good. Once we got up, we went to the gym in the hotel for a workout. Dad did a normal workout; I did a run. After that, the drive was normal, but we took a trip on the last coal-fired passenger steam ferry operating in the US, called the SS Badger. We started from Wisconsin and took the ferry across Lake Michigan to Michigan. The boat trip was good. We read, played some video games, and explored the ship. Once we got off, it was about an hour from the SS Badger to the hotel. Once we got there, I unfortunately wasn’t feeling good, and I ended up puking twice. I feel better now! It was a different but mostly good day. Bye!                 -Colin

Day 2 of our road trip

6/9/25

Hello, it’s Colin again! The second day of our trip was good. We drove from Springfield, Missouri, to Lombard, Illinois. First, we drove to the Uranus Fudge Factory.  It’s a big tourist attraction and also has the world’s largest belt buckle, and the number of puns in the area was staggering, and most of them were really bad. The attraction was very good though, as was the fudge. That took up most of the morning, and then we drove to St. Louis, Missouri. We saw the Gateway Arch, which is a very large arch. We stopped at Pickle’s Café for lunch, and then we drove the rest of the way to Lombard, Illinois. We arrived earlier than normal, and ordered a pizza for supper, and we watched more of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It was a good day. Bye!

Day 1 of our road trip

6/8/2025

Hello! It’s me writing blogs for the summer again! I’m really happy that I’ll be doing this again this year. We also have some droids coming with us this year! They’ll be visiting all the places we go alongside us. I hope that they get into some great adventures. Anyway, the first day of our trip was a good one. Once we left  home at around 9:30, we drove for a couple hours to Ennis and stopped at a Buc-ee’s for lunch. Then we drove a while longer, stopped again, and did that one more time before we ended at the hotel in Springfield, Missouri. Along the way, we saw a lot of stuff. There was a minion statue in a field, a lot of cows and horses, at one point two camels, and at least four different dinosaur statues spaced across a relatively small area. We crossed two borders and stopped at an arch shaped building over the highway for supper. There was a thunderstorm going on for most of the drive. It wasn’t super eventful, but we covered a lot of distance. Tomorrow we’re stopping in some cool tourist attractions. Thanks for reading! 😀

Home again

We woke up early to get the house ready for leaving – washing Al the bed linens and re-making the beds, finishing up the food, taking out the trash. It was a clear sunny day and tough to leave this view!

The seals were out playing yet again

Colin and Laura got a bit more done on the puzzle, which will have to be finished on a subsequent visit.

Great progress!

We recorded our visit in the guestbook, then packed up the car and headed out.

Second entry in the guest book complete!
Bye bye, Bayview!

We had a stop at Tim Horton’s by the airport to get our donut fix – our only Timmie’s stop of the trip!

Mmm…sour cream glazed

It started to snow while we were at Halifax airport, so we got to enjoy seeing a few flurries as the plane de-iced. After a couple of otherwise uneventful flights and a couple of hours in Newark, we are now in the car headed home. A successful trip!

Final day

It was our last chance to relax, but we had to mix it in with getting the house ready for us to leave. We took an easy morning – I got our Christmas cards done, which I closed several attempts to get a selfie on the deck.

We had a lot of closed eyes and shadows in weird places.

Laura was just working on homework so the rest of us went for a walk to try and identify the “weird ducks” I had seen earlier in the week – and success! They were buffleheads – 5 males and 3 females.

There was a cold wind!

We managed to find time in between laundry, inventorying the pantry, and vacuuming, to play our new board game – Sagrata.

I won this one!

It was a cold blustery day and nice to see how cozy and warm the house is. It will be tough to leave.
