day 24 of our road trip.

hello. day 24 of our road trip was nice. we started off in the last AirBnB for the last day of vacation in the Halifax area. the day began nicely. we really just began with waking up, and then once we had breakfast we started packing. once we finished packing, which happened very close to lunch. Laura and Daddy had gon out to gte the trailer, and by this point they were back. the day wasn’t very eventful. we left the AirBnB and then went to a glass shop to see what they were doing today. this is the same glass shop I mentioned before, in an earlier post, so I think you can remember what the shop was like. if you don’t, go check. it’s in day 5. Laura was amazed at the things that were in the store, since she was sailing the first time we went. afterwards, we went to a nearby bakery called White Sails for lunch. White Sails is amazing. they have very good desserts. after that, we went to the airport to drop off Mummy. Mummy will be joining us again later in the trip. once we finished dropping off Mummy, it wasn’t a very eventful trip to where we are now. I’m writing this in the trailer, and I’m tired right now. I don’t feel like typing much more at the moment, so I guess that’s all for now. bye. -Colin

day 23 of our road trip

Hi. sorry I’m posting late again. I’m getting caught up in other stuff and can’t get the blog done and posted every day. I’m going to try harder and do better. I think that sounded and looked way better in my head than on paper. anyway. day 23 of our road trip was very eventful. it was the last full day we were spending in Nova Scotia. we started the day with a beautiful sunrise and a great sunny day, for the first time since we arrived here. well, maybe not the first time, but definiteley the best day we’ve had. after we had breakfast, Grandmother and Grampy had to go. it was sad but also fun helping them pack up. they left, and the day was almost halfway through. once we had lunch, me and Laura went for a hunt for more Pokemon. I’ve been putting “we looked for Pokemon” on a lot of the posts, but I like it a lot. when we came back, Daddy was back from dropping off my grandparets at the airport, so me and Daddy went swimming in the bay behind our house! it was really cool because the top 3-ish feet of the water was nice and warm, and then below that there was an abrupt, but not terrible, drop in the water tempurature. we stayed out for a while and then we realized that my friend Jordan (I mentioned them in day 10- their name is Jordan) was coming over soon. we dried off and changed, and I was trying to get some of my blog for the day before done. I got three sentences in before they came over. once Jordan arrived, I completeley forgot about doing my blog. I brought them downstairs, and we ended up playing games on each others’ phones. after an hour-ish of that, we had a campfire. the day was almoat over, so me and Jordan played a short game of tag, and then they had to go. that’s all that happned two days ago so that’s all for now. right? Nope! I have a question for you. can you please try to find typos in my last posts? and if you find them, can you please put them into the comments? thanks! that’s (really) all for now. Bye! -Colin

Day 22 of our road trip

Hi. sorry I’m posting this late, I got distracted while getting it ready. day 20 of our road trip started off early, since we were going to look at a university for Laura. throughout the trip, we have been making stops at universities because Laura is going to graduate soon. I haven’t talked about them much, as they aren’t as interesting to me. i don’t understand everything that Mummy and Daddy talk about to Laura, so I’m normally just walking with them. however, there were two main things that interested me: 1.) the fact that there were a lot of Poke stops and gyms for my new pokemon game, and 2.) there was a picture of my great great grandfather, who was one of the first presidents of the university. I have a picture of me with the picture of my great great grandfather. on the way back home, we stopped for lunch in an interesting resturant that is a building next to a vineyard. there was also a real phone box in the middle of the field. I had a short debate with myself over whether or not to accept Daddy’s question of “do you want to call someone?” and the side of me that said no was eventually overpowering the side that said yes. I wanted to, but i also wanted to go home. when we got home, not much notable happened after we got home. I guess that’s all for now. bye! -Colin

day 21 of our road trip

hello once again! today will (probably) be a shorter post than yesterday. yesterday, the day started a bit less normally, but only a teeny tiny bit, as i was more tired than usual. I had not gotten a good sleep the last night, so I was having trouble getting up. once we got going, I had a great day. once we had breakfast, Mummy and daddy went house unting (they are considering buying nearby), and me, Laura, Grandmother, and Grampy were staying home. Me, Laura, and Grandmother went on a long walk for trying to find Pokemon. we found some interesting things, although i still didn’t have as many as some other days. when we got back from that, we did some more free time, and by then Mummy and Daddy had gotten back, so we went to the Farmers’ market that was nearby. at the farmers’ market we saw some very interesting things. we had quite a bit of fun trying to decide which souveniers we wanted! I got a necklace with a piece of sea glass. the sea glass actually makes for a really good fidget if I’m restless. when we left, we got ice cream from a nearby place, which was awesome, and then we got back home. at home, we worked on a puzzle and then shelled some eas for supper. Daddy was cooking up some scallops and salmon for supper, and Grampy was getting the other veggies ready.the salmon was delicious, and so were the scallops. i asked the others about the scallops as i don’t like shellfish or mollusks. once we were done, not much happened after that. that’s all for now, so… Bye! -Colin

day… 20?! wow!

Hello! it’s kind of hard to believe that we have been on the road for 20 days, this being my 21st post (I started with day 0.5 before we left), so I’m really happy! I’ll do a small recap to show what we have seen before. we have passed through: Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Washington D.C., Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachussets, New Hampshire, Maine, then on into Canada with New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. quite a lot of “new” places! 5, if you count! can you find them all on the list? you only found four? Haha! Nova Scotia means “NEW Scotland” in French! cool, right? anyway. some of the tourist stops we’ve been to are: various spots in D.C. (see those posts for details), The Edge, some On-Broadway theaters, and the World’s Largest Axe. between us all, we’ve finished who knows how many books, andd I’ve played video games for a very, very long time. this has been a wonderful trip, and I will continue to post for as long as this trip continues! anyhow… on to yesterday! the day started regularly, (as usual) and the day was off! the first notable thing that happened yesterday was that we finished the 1,000 piece puzzle that we started a 2 days ago. we are flying through these puzzles! the puzzle was a picture of Australia with a fancy decorative border. after that, I played around a bit with my games and puzzles then we had lunch. after lunch, me and Daddy went on a very long hunt for Pokemon on my app. the hunt was cool because we got to the closest Poke stop nearby, but we weren’t finding much around. our luck evened out quickly though, as there were many new Pokemon around as we went back home. the reason i said “evened out” instead of “improved” is because the rain started about 1/3 of the way home. once we got home, we introduced Grandmother and Grampy to the game Wingspan. Wingspan is a very complicated game, and this post is already getting long, so I won’t keep going. after a while, and a supper break before we finished, Daddy came in first with 117 points. Grampy and I came in second with 108, Laura and Grandmother got 3rd with 104, and Mummy unfortunateley came in last with 92. the game was fun, but at that point the day was over. after that, we had dessert, got ready for bed, and ended the day wonderfully. that’s all for this post, so goodbye. Farewell until the next post! -Colin

day 19 of our road trip

Hello again. day 19 of our road trip was much less busy and mainly inside. it started normally. the mornings have not been eventful for a very long time. once we got up and going, I transitioned between playing video games and building a puzzle and back again.the puzzle was of some very naughty kittens raiding a tea party while their owner was working in the garden, completely oblivious to the absolute havoc that the kittens are causing. it was very fun trying to determine what chaos each piece fell into. the puzzle was only a 150 piece puzzle, or something close to that. once we finished that, we got out a 1,000 piece puzzle, but I stopped after that. later that day, (a little bit after lunch) I finished all of the puzzles in a roller coaster puzzle game I found in the games room. a different great aunt and uncle had come over at that point, and I played some air hocky with him. he won 2 of the 3 games we played. at this point, a thick fog had rolled in, so we stayed inside for a while. once my great aunt and uncle had left, me, Daddy, and Mummy went out to find some Gyms and Poke Stops for my Pokemon Go game. we stayed out for a while, and when we got back, we had a quiet evening. not much else happened, from what i remember. that’s all for now. bye. -Colin

day 18 of our road trip

hello. day 18 of our road trip was eventful. it started with my normal breakfast and morning routine, so nothing special there. after that, not much happened. there was a pair of loons on the lake outside our place. the loons were very cute, and they had some baby loons! we weren’t sure what the correct noun for a baby loon was, so they were just baby loons. if you have any idea, please respond.the morning was quiet, but the afternoon was busy! my great aunt and uncle came to visit us for the day, so they were at the house for the afternoon. after they arrived, me and Daddy went for a skate on our rollerskates. I tried laura’s in-line skates, but they were too hard for me. we went quite a way, and on the way back, we saw a little catterpillar, orange and black and fuzy, on the road near us. we left it alone, but also took a picture to identify it on an app my dad has. i can’t remember what the app said the catterpillar was, but it was cute. when we got back, we had a very early supper of lobster chowder and rolls made by my great aunt. i tried some of the chowder, but it was not my favourite. i don’t like how lobster looks. i had a bit of the chowder and then just had some peanut butter on the rolls. once we finished supper and my aunt and uncle had left, me and Mummy went hunting for pokemon in the pokemon go app. i found some very interesting pokemon, but they were all a bit hard to remember. when we got back, it was pretty much time to go to bed. however, I had a little snack before then. i don’t have anything else to say about yesterday because I covered everything that happened yesterday, so that’s all for now. bye! -Colin

day 17 of our road trip

Hi! day 17 of our road trip saw us moving to our second AirBnB. the morning was in the first one; there was nothing special then. once we had breakfast, we finished our packing. i got most of my packing done pretty quickly, so i helped bring out everything else. it was a short drive there, and only me, mummy, and daddy went in our car. laura was at sailing camp and Grandmother and Grampy were at a friend’s. when we got herem the first thing i did was explore the ownstairs. this house has the first floor on top, and there is another floor below it. the house is on such a large hill that there is on door on one side on the top story of the house, and the back door is on the lower level. i found a large living room downstairs, that had a bunch of games, a large couch, and an air hockey table on the side. i really like air hockey. like, i really really really really really really really really really REALLY like air hockey. i love it even though i’m not the best at it. i challenged laura, grandmother, and Mummy to matches and I won about 40% of the time.we have all picked our rooms and I like mine. we took a bit to find the correct sheets and blankets for the beds, because they were all mixed up. once we got that done, i played some of my game, and then we had supper. after supper we went out for some ice cream, because it was Grandmother and Grampy’s 51st anniversary. i got a chocolate chip cookie dough scoop on a cone. afterwards, we played a game of UNO, and Mummy won. not much else notable happened yesterday. thanks. Bye! -Colin

day 16 of our road trip

hi. day 16 of our road trip was nice. the morning held the usual things: large breakfast, play on my games, etc. etc. however, I did help Grandmother with the Spelling Bee, a word game online that is tough. there are seven letters, each in a hexagon, and they are arranged in a honeycomb shape. the goal is to spell as many words as possible, but the words must have the center letter. it is really hard but rewarding when you find a long word. it has a lot of complex things to it, so I will go to the next thing. we finished the kakapo yesterday! me and Mummy have been working hard and the kakapo lego set is finally complete! the set includes the kakapo, a little kakapo, and two hats the big kakapo can wear. there are pictures of it below, so that’s all on that. I got Pokemon Go on my phone, which is a really cool AR app that lets the user catch pokemon in the real world. I have been enjoying it a lot. at the end of the day we had fish and chips for supper. there isn’t much else notable from yesterday, so that’s all for now. Bye! -Colin

Day 15 of our road trip

Hi! day 15 of our road trip was eventful and fun. to start I had a good play of my new game, and that was nice. once i had breakfast,me and Daddy went out on the kayaks we have at our AirBnB for a while. I had on my wetsuit and daddy just had some swim clothes, and we had two kayaks. one of the kayaks was a more traditional kayak, with the pilot sitting in a hole in the top of the boat, while the other was more of a small platform with special grooves in it for the pilot to sit on. both of the kayaks use a two bladed paddle. we went out on the bay nearby our place. on the water, we were going against the wind to start but we paddled hard and resisted it almost entirely! we saw some very interesting birds, like a tern, a willet, and some very cute ducks. these don’t make much sense if you don’t have an avid birder in your family/ close friend group. when we had started, i was in the traditional kayak and daddy was on the sit-on kayak, but we swapped (on a beach, ot in the water) when I started accidentally crushing my fingers between the boat and the paddle. i was much, much better with the sit-on kayak than the traditional kayak. after we swapped, it started to rain. rain in Nova Scotia is not like rain in Texas; it’s much more random and controlled by the wind, not just staying in one spot until it’s finished. the rain was nice, and we got very wet. the rest of our trip was mainly just rain ad rocks to look at, so that’s all… about the kayaks. i think that I used the word “kayak” way too much in the above paragraph. in the afternoon, we went to a glass gallery. there were a lot of really amazing things in the gallery, and we saw the people running the shop making little glass whales. after we left there,we visited a small art gallery a little way away. the art gallery was less interesting to me, and I can’t remember much from it. the day was uneventful after we got home, so that’s all for now. Bye!! – Colin
