Backpack drive

Laura helped choose all the items to go in a backpack for the United Way’s backpack/school supplies drive.  We were assigned a little boy and had to shop for everything in his list.  Last night was the drop-off party.

First we wrote notes of encouragement to our student:
Then we out the backpack, our notes, and a few other supplies into big plastic bags and dropped them in the bins.

There was popcorn and ice cream, and a chance to see lots of activities that would be found in a typical United Way “Bright Beginnings” classroom.  Laura had fun checking out all the stations.

Dinosaurs, dioramas, and butterflies, oh my!

The kids and Daddy, along with friends, spent the afternoon at the Museum of Natural Science in Houston.

We saw fossils and dinosaur bones,

dioramas of animals of Texas (while trying to find our way through the basement section),

and ended with a trip to the butterfly pavilion where Mr Steve, Laura and Daddy all had butterflies land on them.

It was a fun day for everyone!

Take me out to the ball park

We went to our first family ball game to see the Houston Astros win against the Texas Rangers. It was a fun game with home runs, lots of hits and a 10-0 score for the home team. Laura loves watching baseball. Colin enjoyed himself but got a little bored of the “watching” part after about 6 innings.

We all had a good time.
